Ukraine is one of the countries that prospective students applying to study abroad most frequently choose. It differs from other countries with its borders with European countries such as Poland and Hungary, its ancient history, the hospitality of its people, and historical monuments. Most importantly, its quality education and the agreement on recognition of educational documents signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan and the Government of Ukraine contribute to local students' desire to study in Ukraine. The agreement signed in 2000 is still in force. Education is taught in Russian, English, and Ukrainian. Diplomas are issued in English and Ukrainian. Most universities have state status; there are several private universities in the country. The majority of foreign students choose state universities; admission to private universities is not recommended.
